Where Equines Meet Education
Building a community of lifelong learners!
Building a community of lifelong learners!
We are so glad that you have come to our website to get information about what we do here at LEARN. We work together with equines and children (K-5) to create a very special Christian learning environment to practice reading, writing, math, and social skills. Feel free to look around and email us with any questions.
Why choose this program for kids? Research shows that young children learn best through novelty and through play. In the last several years there have been gaps in the educational system created due to Covid and distance learning. This program allows kids to learn in a different way and have interactions with equines while learning. This offers them something different than a traditional classroom setting and allows them to develop skills to take back into a traditional classroom and to be more successful. This is done in a safe learning environment in 2 hour class sessions with small groups of no more than 5 students, grades K-5.
This is not a riding program, but an educational program. All activities are with feet on the ground. No experience with horses is necessary. Why are horses/equines part of this program? Horses have a larger electromagnetic field around them than humans. They have a lower heart rate and breathing rate. When entering this electromagnetic field a person's heart rate and breathing rate slow to match that of the horse. This can have a calming effect, creating a positive state for learning. This is one of the many reasons that horses participate in therapy situations as well. Our horses have come to us from rescues and auctions. Our goal is to give them a purpose and safe and loving place to live while helping children to learn.
Why does LEARN focus on literacy? Literacy is knowledge and knowledge is the key to possibilities. Possibilities open the doors to college, employment, travel, and dreams. Literacy creates well rounded, well-educated young people who will be the world leaders of tomorrow. Here at LEARN we want to get that journey started and supported by laying a strong foundation of skills. Literacy isn't limited to reading alone. It expands horizons and opens up doors by the access it brings to the world. Literacy exposes young people to culture, history, and experiences through reading. Learning can be fun and adventurous. If we teach children to love learning, then they will become motivated, lifelong, literate learners.
We customize a learning session with your child's individual needs and interests in mind.

Our lessons help with learning to read, so that eventually your child will be reading to learn.
Some lessons are designed to help your child learn strategies that will benefit them in all of their academic subjects.
There is generally less stress and anxiety around equines and they help promote a calm and relaxed learning environment.
Our blog is set up to promote literacy for students who are in kindergarten through fifth grade to practice their reading skills and learn about equines. It is also fun and informative for the parents, too.
