Angela has been teaching in elementary education for over twenty five years. About 5 years ago, she asked God to show her how to combine her love for children and teaching with her love for horses. That journey took her to Prescott College in Arizona, where she earned her MA in Education with an emphasis in Equine Assisted Learning. Along the way, she became certified in teaching with the Horse Powered Curriculum, designed by Dr. Michele Pickel from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN. Her goal is bring horses and students together to create a fun and engaging educational experience.
Greg is a retired police sergeant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department with 22 years of service. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Fresno. After retirement Greg worked as a Director of Ministries at Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also served as a Chaplain with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He has lead mission trips to Belarus to teach English and now volunteers and serves as one of the Deacons at his local church Cedar Creek. Greg has experience in leadership and administration roles.
Hyla has more than twenty years in responsible and successful administrative experience in higher education. She retired in 2017 as the interim vice president academic affairs at the College of Southern Nevada Las, Vegas. She has been married to her husband Fred for 50 years! She is the proud mother of two adult children, a son and a daughter. Hyla has four grandchildren and she is a devoted grandmother. She attends Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas, Nevada where she is involved in women’s ministry and service to the community.
Wally Oliver (Tonya’s husband), a graduate of the University of Louisville and retiree from United Parcel Service moved to Aiken in 2001 as a part of a relocation package for his management position. His past history with children includes coaching baseball for over nine years and teaching 5k and 1st graders Sunday school at Cedar Creek Church for over 22 years. He has a passion for working with kids and loves to find ways to pair learning with having fun.
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Tonya Oliver, an LPN by trade, moved to Aiken, South Carolina in 2001 with her husband and children. Shortly after their relocation, Tonya began her preschool teaching career of 17 years. A mother of two and grandmother of three (as of May 2024) she is a full-time babysitter for her granddaughter and a volunteer at her church - Cedar Creek Church. Tonya has a passion for children and education.
Jim was born and raised in the small town of Harwinton, Connecticut
and followed in his older brother's footsteps to veterinary college.
After graduating from Cornell Veterinary College in 1983, he worked at
the Delhi Animal Hospital in New York as an associate for two years.
With a classmate, he established the Lake Country Veterinary Clinic
in 1985 in Marcellus NY before returning to the Delhi Animal Hospital
as a partner in 1987. At home in the rural setting of Delaware County,
he treated everything ranging from alpacas to whitetail deer with the
emphasis on bovine, equine, canine and feline. Retiring in January
2021, he moved to Aiken, SC with his wife Penny, two horses, two cats
and a bull terrier. Although no longer a practicing veterinarian,
helping animals and helping people remains a primary focus.
